The 'Legacy' Behind Ellis Legacy

The formation of Ellis Legacy, LLC had been a dream of ours for years, and with that our goal was simple:  Build the highest quality home, that provide our clients with value, comfort and security. In 2017 Blake, wife Lori, and son Jordan officially formed Ellis Legacy, LLC, a full-service Home Design and Construction Company, with the hopes of not only building beautiful homes but building a future for our family. Over the years we have developed integral relationships with our contractors & streamlined our exceptional build process. In 2021 we brought in our new partner, Matt McGee.  Matt was a trusted friend and colleague, and we knew when we were ready to expand, he was not only our first choice but our only choice. As a custom builder, your vision is our vision, and we will turn it into YOUR DREAM HOME.  We work with you every step of the way:  from thoughtful design, creating a realistic budget, quality selections, to completion of a home that exceeds industry standards.  No matter what you are looking for in a home- modern, traditional, farmhouse, multi-generational, or barndominum. We can help!  We offer full-service home design.  Whether you have a pre existing design or a concept on a napkin, our design team can make it happen. This service is available to you, even if you already have a builder in place.  We work with numerous builders in the area. In addition to new home construction, our services include home additions, remodel, and small commercial. ​As a custom home builder our goal is to hand over the keys to not just our clients, but our friends.

Our Process

First Meeting

We are a family-owned and operated company, and getting to know you and your family is important! Understanding your goals, vision, and priorities is essential to our success. During the meeting we will work with you on the overview of the project including style, amenities, size, rooms, timing, and the dreaded budget.  We call this the “Getting to know each other” phase.  Where we will get a real feel for what you are thinking and how we can make this dream a reality, and you can get a feel for us.

Where to Build

We will discuss options of building on your land or we can help you find the perfect homesite for you.  We have a licensed Real Estate Brokerage in the State of Texas and can help you purchase land.  We can also assist you in the sale of your current home should you need that service.  

Plan Design

This is an important step in the Custom Home Building process. One of our unique assets is we have our own Home Designer.  Having our own designer makes our process seamless in that we all work together daily from start to finish.  During this time our designer will work with you on the home plan using our experience in construction and design to create a space that will provide you with years of pleasure.  We will help you to make educated decisions and add perspective to your ideas, all while keeping construction costs and specific building applications in mind.

Our entire team will work with you, to come up with a stunning design that perfectly fits your vision and lifestyle!  The plan is developed in stages. The first stage is the general floorplan layout. It’s always an exciting day to review the first draft of your new home! It’s easy at this point to make changes and further refine how your home is laid out. Based on your feedback and our combined notes, our designer will make the revisions to get the plan where you want it. As we move through each stage and the layers are added, we will help you put just the right architectural touches to make your plan truly one of a kind!

Project Planning

Our goal is once you move in we want you to look around your new home feel confident that everything was brought to your attention, careful consideration was given to every element, from design to finish out.  

As your builder, we will discuss pros, cons, alternative solutions, and options to explore for your new home. The first set of Specifications and an Estimated price can be developed as soon as floorplans and exterior elevations are approved by you.

The Proposal Price is based on the specifications, allowances, and the preliminary plans. We offer a seamless and full turnkey building experience which typically also includes soils analysis, structural engineering, and interior design services to name a few. Basically we will walk you through every step of the process.

The initial proposal and specifications are a starting point for planning. Once you have reviewed them with us, we will make revisions so we can really hone in on exactly what you would like to include. Our goal is to be thorough up front so that pricing is as accurate as possible.  Without thorough and detailed specifications there would likely be surprises during construction. In other words, we want the contract price to be the actual price you ultimately pay!

Once we have the plans and specifications right where you want them, the paperwork is signed, and now it is time to put the thorough planning into action!

Construction

Your personal Project Manager will communicate with you from the day we break ground until the day you move in. He will insure that the construction is going as planned and provide updates to you, as well as meet with you throughout the construction process. Our goal is to keep you very well informed and make sure you are part of the process.

Our staff will help you organize and select all the interior and exterior finishes.Which will include windows, flooring, paint, cabinets, countertops, tile, light and plumbing fixtures, etc. as well as stone, brick, paint colors and so much more! Please note that the availability of certain items and materials may impact the schedule. 

We strive to maximize the enjoyment of building by establishing a relationship of open and honest communication and delivering outstanding quality homes that are built to stand the test of time.

Completion

Handing you the keys is the best part of the process! …As your new custom home project nears completion, your Project Manager will schedule a Walk Through to review and discuss the work that has been completed and create a list of any outstanding action items. Once all of the outstanding action items have been addressed, your home will be considered complete.  

Warranty

We offer a 2 Year Warranty covering the plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems in your home.  We also provide a 10 year structural warranty.  All manufacturer warranties are transferable.  In addition we insure all our homes against defects through StrucSure Warranty Company.
